What Affects the Cost of Floor Screeding?
The calculator covers the main things. These are the details that can move your final price up or down.
Type of Screed
Sand and cement is the most affordable. Liquid screed costs more per m² but is laid far faster and suits underfloor heating best.
Depth
More depth means more material. Liquid screed is usually laid at 50–70mm; sand and cement from 20mm bonded to 50mm or more floating.
Floor Area
Bigger floors spread the set-up cost, so the price per m² comes down. Small jobs have a £650 minimum charge.
Access
Liquid screed is pumped up to 100m from the van, so most homes are fine. Tight access or upper floors can add time.
Insulation & Membranes
Whether the floor needs insulation, a membrane or edge strip, and whether we supply them, depends on the job.
Drying Time
If flooring has to go down quickly, fast-drying screed costs a little more but saves weeks.

Screed Cost Questions
How much does floor screeding cost per m²?
As a guide, sand and cement screed costs around £20 per m², fast-drying screed around £27.50 per m², and liquid screed (anhydrite or cement-based) around £30 per m², supplied and laid. These prices are based on a floor of about 150m² at 75mm.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes. Small jobs have a minimum charge of £650, which covers getting the crew, materials and equipment to site.
Why is my fixed quote different from the calculator?
The calculator gives a guide price. Your fixed quote takes into account the exact depth, the condition of the base, access for the pump or mixer, and any insulation, membrane or edge strip the job needs.
Does the price change with depth?
Yes. Our guide prices are for a 75mm screed. Thinner floors use less material and deeper floors use more, so we confirm the price once we know the depth on your drawings or at survey.
How long will my screed take to dry?
Standard screed dries at roughly 1mm per day, so a 50mm floor needs around seven weeks before most flooring goes down. Fast-drying screed is ready much sooner. People can walk on sand and cement screed after 24 hours, and on liquid screed after 48 hours.
